East / West Berlin Contrasts, April 1990. (1)
Some primarily U-Bahn (underground railway / subway) related views filmed in Berlin in April 1990, which was after the wall had been opened but when the city was still divided. 1) Alexanderplatz was the focal point for the Eastern part of Berlin, and here we see some large & small profile U-Bahn trains (note the 'door closing' lights and bells) plus the main Centrum department store and a shop selling 'Western' products for people with 'hard' currency (ie: £, $, DM, etc). Not filmed (to avoid possible arrest) were signs inside Centrum in German, French, English and Russian saying that many of the goods on display could only be sold to people with Berlin Residency Cards (ie: people from the part of Berlin in the former DDR / GDR). There is also a ride inside a small profile U-Bahn train. 2) Wittenbergplatz was part of the focal point for the Western part of Berlin, and here we see a gift from London Transport, some small profile U-Bahn trains (note the lack of any type of 'door closing' alarms) plus some internal & external views of the restored station booking hall and the nearby large KaDeWe department store. 3) A ride through some closed stations inside a large profile U-Bahn train on line U8. After the building of the wall in 1961 the U8 only carried West Berliners, linking suburbs to the north and the south of the city via Alexanderplatz but with the stations in the Eastern controlled part of Berlin being sealed so that no-one could enter / leave them and armed guards <b>...</b>

Recording for Hollywood Strings took place at EastWest Studio 1, the same studio where many Hollywood soundtracks and television themes were recorded with a live orchestra. Heading this project were co-producers Doug Rogers, Nick Phoenix and Thomas Bergersen and sound engineer Shawn Murphy. Joining Rogers and Phoenix as co-producer on Hollywood Strings is Thomas Bergersen, a composer and orchestrator and Phoenix's partner in trailer music company Two Steps From Hell. His extensive experience in composing for orchestras and with virtual orchestras made him a perfect fit for the team of Rogers and Phoenix. My 1st attempt at using EWQL Quantum Leap Symphonic Choirs and Goliath. Had it and IMAC with Logic Pro 9 for about 2 weeks now. Fantastic software. Sorry about the video. Battle of Gettysburg (East West Quantum Leap Orchestra)
These are photographs taken of the battle fields at Gettysburg during our visit in August of 2010. It was after visiting this sacred ground that inspired me to write this piece of music which is dedicated to all the Americans who fought and sacrificed their lives in the battle. The photographs are meant to capture all aspects of Gettysburg -- the vastness and beauty of the battlefields, the memorials that are scattered throughout the fields and the people who continue to visit this memorable place. In addition, the music is a tribute to Randy Edelman who composed the theme to the 1993 movie "Gettysburg". If you listen closely, you can hear a quote from his Main Title.

Hi everyone. This is me introducing my new song. I composed and arranged it with Logic Pro and the East West libraries Symphonic Orchestra and Goliath. You can hear a harmony from a bassoon which is accompanied by some horns, violins and flutes. I enlarged it with a harp, a trombone and some metals. I tried to give it an amusing and naive touch and confronted it with a kind of nobility. Thats where the title comes from. Hope you all like it.
